Leather, Croco or Leopard? How to Pick the Right Iluma Case Material
Choosing an Iluma case is not just about fit — it is about material, feel, and how the case will age over months of daily use. The three main textures Lorenzi Paris works with are leather, croco, and leopard, and they behave very differently in the hand and over time.
Full-grain leather — the long game
Natural leather Iluma cases are made from full-grain cow leather — the same grade used in high-end bags and wallets. The surface is smooth and slightly supple, with a natural warmth that synthetic materials cannot replicate.
Leather improves with use. Over weeks and months it develops a patina: a subtle deepening of tone and a slight gloss that reflects the oils from your hands. No two cases age identically, which means your case becomes genuinely unique to you.
Best for: people who want a case that gets better with age and prefer a minimal, unfussy aesthetic.
Croco embossing — grip and character
Croco Iluma cases are made from leather that has been embossed with a crocodile-skin pattern under heat and pressure. The resulting texture is three-dimensional: raised scales separated by shallow grooves that give the hand natural grip without any added rubber or silicone.
The croco finish also hides minor surface marks better than smooth leather — useful if the case lives in a pocket with keys. Available in a wide range of tones including grey, brown, black, blue, silver and gold.
Best for: people who want a tactile finish and a broader colour range, or who carry the device in a bag or pocket alongside other items.
Leopard print — bold by design
Leopard Iluma cases use a laser-cut technique to engrave the print into genuine leather. The result is precise and three-dimensional in a way that printed fabric or painted finishes cannot achieve. Up close, you can see the depth of each spot — it reads as a material detail, not a graphic.
Available in natural, brown, black and red. Each colourway has a different character: natural is warm and easy to wear, black is graphic and high contrast, red makes a statement.
Best for: people who want the case to be a visible part of their look.
The practical question: which lasts longest?
All three are genuine leather and will outlast synthetic alternatives significantly. Croco's embossed surface is slightly more resilient to surface marks than smooth leather. Leopard's laser-cut texture is set into the material permanently and does not fade or peel. For longevity, all three are solid choices — the difference is in the look, not the lifespan.
